What are Cookies?

Personal data will NEVER be shared unless it is required by law to the authorities. Your data will never be sold or displayed on site without your explicit permission.

You can change these settings at any time by simply logging into your account and switching the appropriate privacy settings to 'Private' or turning off the Public Profile completely.

By explicitly opting in to any newsletter subscriptions, you agree to receive occassional communications from us regarding this website, it's services, updates and features. You can change newsletter settings at any time by simply changing your opt-in preference in your account or by clicking the unsubscribe link in email you may receieve from us.

Information collection and use.

TorquePoint only collects information that you choose to provide.

When you sign up for our site, use our services, or communicate with us, you may choose to voluntarily give us certain information. For example, by filling in text boxes or completing registration forms. Therefore, this information requires direct action by you at that time in order for us to receive it. We do not, and cannot collect any personal information without your explicit interaction.

We will only contact you if you ask us to. For example, in response to any query you may have made regarding our services or website, or if opting in to receieve occassional newsletters.

When regsitering with us, the minimum required information we require to set up and maintain a private account is :

Once registered, you may choose to provide additional personal information where you can select if you wish this data to be displayed publically or not.

For security reasons and to track online abuse, we will also store your IP address at the data of registration and your current IP address at the time of accessing your account. This will be stored with your account data and only be seen by you within your account when logged in.

We do not currently utilise or store tracking and location (i.e. GPS) data.

How long do we keep your data for?

Unless requested otherwise in advance by law enforcement bodies, we will not retain your personal information for any longer than is necessary or for any reason other than to provide our services to you.

In case we were are legally obliged to retain data, we will only do so for as long as reasonably neccesary and ONLY where it is required for us to meet regulatory or statutory requirements, resolve disputes or prevent fraud and abuse.

Choosing how we use your data.

From your account area, you can manage the privacy and security of your personal information yourself.

With respect to the information relating to you that is in our possession, and recognising that it is solely your choice to provide us with your personally identifiable information, we commit to giving you the ability to do all of the following:
  • You can verify the details you have submitted to TorquePoint by contacting us at any time via our contact form, telephone number or by email.
    For security reasons, we will always request proof of identity before we reveal any information.
  • You can also contact us by the same methods to change, correct, or delete your personal information at any time.
    Please be aware however, if you have shared any information with others through social media channels etc., that information may remain visible, even if your account is deleted.
  • You are also free to close your account through the settings available in your account area.
    If you choose to delete your account, all your live account data will be immediately removed and cannot be recovered.
    However, we may retain copies of limited information as required by law or for legitimate business purposes (including to help address fraud and spam) and or for the purpose of site backups and account recovery in cases of accidental deletion.
    If used for site backups, no account data of any kind is stored for any longer than two months following account deletion.
  • You will be able to update us on your details at any point by editing your account directly after logging in, or by contacting us directly. (Confirmation of identity will be required).
  • You can unsubscribe from receiving any comunications emails from us by changing the associated options in your account, or by clicking the 'unsubscribe' link at the bottom of any email. Once you do this, you will no longer receive any emails from us.
  • You can request a readable copy of the personal data we hold on you at any time. To do this, please use the option available in your account area.
Please note, we are constantly reviewing how we process and protect data. Therefore, changes to our policy may occur at any time. We will endeavour to publicise any changes.

Automated Decision Making.

In order to keep our database clean and free from spam, automated submissions and user registrations by bots, our systems perform a number of automated processes to eliminate unwanted data.

These processes include, but are not limited to :

Deleting and rejection of user registrations / memberships by :

  • Ascertaining whether a user registration has confirmed their email address or not after a specified period of time.
  • Ascertaining whether a registered member has been active after a specified period of time and whether their account has been effectively abandoned.
  • Ascertaining whether a registration, post or contact message has originated from a known problem IP address, an IP that has been blacklisted, or been associated with a previous registration.

Permanent banning / blocking of certain IP address from site forms by :

  • Determining whether a particular IP address is responsibe for multiple postings that violate our accetable use policies.
  • Determining whether an IP address is spamming website forms.
  • Determining whether an IP address is contained on a public blacklist of known problem IP addresses or ranges of IP addresses.
If you have been affected by any of our automated decision making processes, you may request an explanation and review into the decision at any time.

However, if the decision process resulted in the blocking of your IP address, you must contact us from another computer using a different IP address, otherwise messages from you may not be received.
